The Juvenile Justice Anger
Management (JJAM) Treatment for Girls.
The JJR&R Lab developed, implemented, and evaluated the Juvenile Justice Anger Management (JJAM) Treatment for Girls, a manualized anger management intervention for use with female youth in residential post-adjudication facilities. The JJAM Treatment for Girls is an 8-week, 16-session, group intervention designed for 12-19-year-old girls in juvenile justice facilities.
Results of a randomized controlled trial indicated that JJAM successfully alleviated anger and reduced physical and relational aggression in this underserved and high-risk group.
JJAM was selected for inclusion as a "promising program" on the National Institute of Justice's CrimeSolutions.org website and in the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's Model Programs Guide.
The National Institute of Mental Health/National Institutes of Health (NIMH K23 MH070400) funded this project.
The JJAM facilitators' manual and youth workbooks will soon be publicly available, following publication by Oxford University Press.
